Opportunity:
RN – MedSurg
Job Details:
• Day shifts run from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts run from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations include 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday
• Schedule is created in 6-week increments and provided 2 weeks prior to the start of the schedule
• Block scheduling may be accommodated upon request but is not guaranteed
• Approved time off up to 7 days
• Patient ratios are 1:4 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts; 1:1 ratio when administering chemotherapy
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required certification: BLS
• ONS or ONCC certification required if filling an Oncology RN role
• EPIC EMR experience required
• General MedSurg skills required including foley insertion/care, peripheral IV placement and maintenance, bladder scans, NG tube placement and maintenance, chest tubes, trachs, wound care and dressing changes, central line/PICC/midline management, and accessing ports
• Charge RN experience preferred but not required; please include charge experience in submission
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional; no graphics, logos, or designs
• May float within scope of practice; most common float areas are Obs and MedSurg 4; travelers float first
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge RN, phlebotomy, hospitalist 24/7, respiratory 24/7, SWAT RN, IV/Vascular Access Team during the day, and centralized tele monitoring with tele techs
Facility:
This 167-bed medical center is a Level II Trauma Center and serves as a Primary Stroke Center, offering a comprehensive range of specialty services. The facility includes a Level III NICU and Level III Maternity unit, reflecting its commitment to high-acuity and specialized patient care. The MedSurg unit consists of 16 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients, treating a wide variety of conditions including general MedSurg cases, oncology diagnoses, neutropenic precautions, end-of-life care, hospice, respiratory issues, and swing bed patients.
