Opportunity:
Respiratory Therapist – Respiratory Therapy
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts with day shift hours from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and night shift hours from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Variable shifts on rare occasions with advance notice provided to traveler prior to any schedule changes
• Rotating weekend coverage approximately every 3rd weekend depending on staffing and call-ins
• Rotating holiday coverage with 2 out of 3 winter holidays and every other holiday otherwise
• No on-call or standby call requirements
• Critical care and medical/surgical focus with 20-25 treatments per day per respiratory therapist
• Typically 2 respiratory therapists per shift
• Cover inpatient, ER, ICU, medical/surgical floors, and facility emergencies in the clinic
• Primarily adult patients with minimal pediatric and neonate patients in ER or newborn settings
• May be asked to cover high-risk deliveries on a very low frequency basis
• Perform basic therapies, ABGs, EKGs, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilator management including intubation weaning and extubation
• Assist with intubation and insert king airways in emergency situations prior to provider arrival
• Timely and proper charting required in Cerner
• Proficiency required with ventilators (PB980, PB840, SurvoU, LTV1200, Hamilton), BiPAP/CPAP (V60, Home ResMed), and high flow (Optiflow)
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Strong teamwork skills required with ability to assist other therapists as needed
• Scrub color requirement: Dark Green
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS (AHA), and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC
• Charting system: Cerner
• Acute care setting
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a robust respiratory therapy department with a focus on critical care and medical/surgical patients. The department is supported by hospitalists available 24/7, intensivists on-site for the majority of the day, and an eICU for overnight needs. The facility utilizes modern respiratory equipment and provides a structured orientation program including dedicated shifts with a lead therapist, equipment review, and department shadowing prior to independent assignment.
