Opportunity:
RN – CVICU
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 1 to 2 holidays expected per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year of CVICU experience required
• Care for cardiac patients including immediate post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs and replacements, heart transplants, and pacemakers
• Care for thoracic surgery patients including fresh post-op esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and lobectomy
• Care for vascular patients including fresh post-op AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring including Swan Ganz and A-lines, pacemakers, chest tubes, cardiac medications, ventilator and trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• CCRN certification preferred
• May float to ED Holding, other ICUs, MSU, Sitter, or PACU Surge as needed
• Scrub color must be any solid color and professional with no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available with shuttle service during day shifts and attached parking structure for night shifts
Facility:
This facility is a large 933-bed hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, as well as a Level III NICU and Magnet-designated institution. The CVICU unit consists of 30 beds with robust 24/7 support including a dedicated CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, Hospitalist, General Intensivist, and ICU-designated Respiratory Therapist. The unit utilizes EPIC as its EMR system along with Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitoring systems, providing a well-equipped and highly supported environment for critical care nursing professionals.
