Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks with 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations include working one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratios: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA 2-3 per shift
• Care for patients with common diagnoses including heart failure, A-Fib, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, respiratory failure, COPD, asthma, NSTEMI, sepsis, and diabetes
• Care for post-op surgery and post cardiac procedure patients as well as patients with co-morbidities common to med-surg population
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, groin management, foley insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
• Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills required for Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education required
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Phillips
• Additional equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp), bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines
• BLS certification required
• Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency exam required as part of compliance
• ACLS preferred
• Medical-Surgical nursing national certification preferred but not required
• Scrub color: Navy for RN, Ceil Blue for LPN
• May float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units within the facility
Facility:
This facility is a 637-licensed-bed teaching hospital holding a Level 1 Trauma Designation and housing specialized centers including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The Med Surg/Tele unit consists of 30 beds and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and a Central Telemetry Unit, all available around the clock to ensure comprehensive patient care.
