Opportunity:
RN – ICU
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with shift times of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Schedule is made in 4-week increments
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 1 holiday requirement per contract
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity
• Manage a variety of patient types including general diagnoses (sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, DKA, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, ARF, delirium), surgical patients (general, open abdominal, ortho, ENT, OBGYN), and cardiac/vascular patients (CABG, EVAR, valves, post cath, AAA, amputations)
• No complex neuro cases
• Required skills include vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, Foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath experience, CVVH, and CRRT
• Preferred skills include cardiovascular and CV surgery experience, IABPs, and Impellas
• EMR system: EPIC (preferred)
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Unit-specific equipment: NxStage CRRT
• May be required to float within scope of practice including intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), and Observation units (1:4); travelers are first to float
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
• Scrub color: Any color; no camouflage, graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available
• More than 2 sick calls will prompt a discussion and possible contract termination
Facility:
This facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Level II NICU with 136 beds, also designated as a Primary Stroke Center. The ICU unit consists of 17 beds and is supported by a robust team including CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, a PM ICU Supervisor, phlebotomy services, an educator, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7, as well as an ICU-specific pharmacist during daytime hours.
