Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts available, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation required: 5-6 weekend shifts out of every 12 shifts on a 6-week schedule cycle
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratio: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA 2-3 per shift
• Care for patients with common diagnoses including heart failure, A-Fib, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, respiratory failure, COPD, asthma, NSTEMI, sepsis, and diabetes
• Care for post-op surgery and post cardiac procedure patients
• Required skills include: trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, groin management, Foley insertion and care, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
• Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills required for a Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education required
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Philips
• Additional equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamap), bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines
• Float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units within the facility as needed
• Scrub color: Navy for RNs, Ceil Blue for LPNs
• Required certifications: BLS
• BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) – must pass an EKG competency exam
• ACLS preferred
• Medical-Surgical nursing national certification preferred but not required
Facility:
This facility is a large hospital with 637 licensed beds, holding a Level 1 Trauma Designation and serving as a teaching hospital. The facility includes a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, providing comprehensive specialty care services. The Med Surg/Tele unit consists of 30 beds and is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team floats, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and a Central Telemetry Unit, all available around the clock.
