Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless an exception is made at the employee's request
• Primary shift will be days with some nights if operational needs arise
• Minimum of 36 hours off required between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift for patient care
• Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Self-scheduling unit
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• 2 years of acute care experience in specialty required within the last 3 years
• Experience starting IVs required
• EPIC experience required
• Must pass a Telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher – two attempts allowed
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), RN license
• Work on a 28-bed family practice and forensics unit with 18 general care beds and up to 10 correctional beds
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients – staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer when assisting these patients
• Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, feeding tube care and management, heparin, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, PCA, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, telemetry, wound care/wound vac, and previous law enforcement patient care
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
