Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (days) and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (nights)
• Primary shift will be days with some night shifts based on operational needs
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless requested by the employee
• Minimum 36 hours off required between the end of a night shift and the beginning of a day shift for patient care
• Every other weekend rotation and holidays as required
• Self-scheduling unit
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• 2 years of acute care experience required within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Experience starting IVs required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• RN license required
• BLS (AHA only) required
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher (two attempts allowed)
• Adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole, with no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions
• Work on a 28-bed family practice and forensics unit with 18 general care beds and up to 10 correctional beds
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit may have 0-10 Department of Corrections patients at any given time; staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer when assisting these patients
• Unit includes a locked wing with double doors for DOC patients
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draw, feeding tube care and management, heparin and insulin administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, PICC line management, PCA, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, and previous law enforcement patient care
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and more

The facility operates a 28-bed family practice and forensics unit and provides care for patients with complex acute illnesses as well as chronic conditions. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available on-site, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
