Opportunity:
RN – ER
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts with variable start times of 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend Saturday and Sunday required
• Holiday requirements of at least 2 out of 3 winter holidays, otherwise typically every other holiday during the contract
• Opportunity for significant overtime available, though 48 hours per week is not guaranteed
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 during the day, with higher ratios at night; after 3:00 AM only 2 RNs until 7:00 AM
• Rotate variable start times as scheduled by manager; scheduling attempts to avoid 1 on/1 off patterns
• Treat an average of 40-60 patients per day in the emergency department
• Work in a 14-bed ER with 2 trauma bays, a 3-room Fast Track area, and 2 triage rooms
• Trauma Level IV facility; STEMI and stroke patients are transferred out
• Common patient diagnoses include traumas, STEMIs, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and farm-related injuries
• Responsible for reading own monitor strips at central monitoring station
• May float to inpatient areas to assist as needed
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required
• Michigan nursing license required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
• Dress code: Any solid color scrubs, clean and professional appearance required
• Must clock in and out at the facility
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a fully staffed emergency department with 24/7 ED physician coverage and access to mid-level providers. The department is supported by 24/7 respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, X-ray, and CT imaging services. The ER includes dedicated triage rooms, Fast Track rooms, psych/seclusion capable rooms, and an attached acute care unit for overflow patients. The facility maintains a collaborative care environment supported by CNAs, medics, LPNs, and respiratory therapists to assist nursing staff.
