Opportunity:
RN – MedSurg
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Nurse aides available on unit with ratios of 1:8 on days and 1:14 on nights
• Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment; agency staff not required to work in charge role
• Common patient diagnoses include abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical cases
• Required skills include IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and electronic health record documentation
• Intermediate care background required
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, and occasionally insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• Telemetry monitor techs on unit; RNs not required to read their own strips
• Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy; no ventilators
• Float rotation to other med/surg units may be required if unit is overstaffed
• Block scheduling not guaranteed but every effort made, especially for night shifts
• Scrubs of any color acceptable
• Unit orientation includes 12 hours of computer training and 12 hours of shadowing
• Charting system: Cerner
• 29-bed unit
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred

This acute care facility is a Level 2 trauma center offering a broad range of medical and surgical services. The progressive care unit supports a diverse patient population with complex medical needs, equipped with telemetry monitoring technology and staffed with a collaborative team including nurse aides and respiratory therapy support.
