Opportunity:
RN – Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day and night shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday
• Required to work 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period (4-6 shifts per contract based on unit needs)
• Orientation week shift lengths may vary and include 8-hour shifts
• Provide care for critically ill newborns and infants and their families across the continuum of care from admission to discharge
• Care for infants requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services including a wide variety of medical and surgical complexities
• Manage post-operative patients, g-tubes, trach/vents, and various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation
• Float to all units within the children's hospital including PICU for patients less than 12 months of age; travelers float first
• Minimum 2 years of total NICU Level III/IV experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
• Travel experience required; must be located more than 50 miles from the facility
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only)
• Wisconsin RN license or compact license required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher within two attempts
• Patient ratio experience of 1:3
• Key skills include ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, neonatal dosage calculations, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Special equipment includes ventilators for invasive and noninvasive ventilation including NAVA (Draeger, Servo, and Oscillator), aEEG, and whole body cooling (Arctic Sun)

The facility is home to a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and a 26-bed Level IV NICU that cares for the tiniest and most complex patients throughout the region and beyond. Interdisciplinary support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretaries.
