Opportunity:
RN – Interventional Radiology
Job Details:
• Department is staffed 24/7 with General IR shift times from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and Neuro IR shift times from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
• Weekend rotation includes on-call responsibilities
• Weekday call (Monday–Thursday): 1 call shift per week, end of shift until following morning at 7:00 AM
• Weekend call (Friday–Sunday): Once every 5th or 6th weekend, end of shift Friday until Monday at 7:00 AM
• 30-minute response time required for call shifts
• Travelers will only take Neuro call if they have Neuro IR experience; otherwise, General IR call only
• Manager is open to altering shift times (e.g., four 10-hour shifts or a combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts)
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved
• No floating to other units
• Will orient with a preceptor for 1–2 weeks with competency check-off
• Treat adult patients only; no pediatric patients
• Average of 40–50 patients seen per day
• Perform and assist with General IR procedures including kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central line/PICC/port placements, fistulograms, IVC filter placement, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, and thoracentesis/paracentesis
• CT Room procedures supported by IR include cryos, CT biopsies, and drains (not performed at night)
• AAA intervention experience preferred
• Neuro IR experience required: strokes and embolization; DSA, WADA test, and spinal angios performed during day shifts only
• Administer sedation unless anesthesia is involved; monitor and chart patient progress
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience accepted; first-time travelers accepted with IR experience
• EMR: EPIC – experience preferred
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• PACS: Change Healthcare
• Primary equipment: Siemens and GE – experience preferred; MedRad injector
• Additional equipment (experience not required): IVUS, GE Ultrasound, Laser, Bovie for port removals, Angiojet
• Scrubs provided

This large medical center is a 933-bed facility and holds Magnet Designation, reflecting its commitment to nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The facility operates as a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU, and is recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Interventional Radiology department operates 24/7 and is supported by a robust team including two coordinators, lead technologists, tech specialists, Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalist coverage, and CNA/transport staff all available around the clock.
