Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week (48 hours available upon request)
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule required
• Every other holiday rotation requirement
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Newburgh (8 miles) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson, KY (11 miles)
• 2-hour notice given for cross-campus float assignments
• Mid-shift float possible within same campus
• Patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, PMs 1:5-6, Nights 1:6-7
• 23-bed unit with CN taking patient assignment on all shifts
• Required certifications: Current active compact nursing license, AHA BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum two years of strong Med/Surg experience and one travel assignment required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with checkoff class
• Navy blue scrubs required – no hoodies, sweatshirts, or competing health system/agency logos
• Patient population includes cardiac patients, CVA/TIA, post-surgical, GI/Urology procedures, and detox/CIWA
• Skills include cardiac cath recovery, post-surgical care, NIHSS/neuro assessments, drip titration, and blood administration
• Teaching hospital environment may require precepting students and new hires
• Three call-ins can result in termination
• Associate degree or certificate required

The Med/Surg unit is managed by an experienced leader with over 22 years with the organization, overseeing two units with the lowest turnover rates in the hospital, demonstrating stable and supportive work environment.
