Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week (48 hours available upon request)
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule required
• Every other holiday rotation required
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to Deaconess Newburgh (8 miles) and potential to Deaconess Henderson, KY (11 miles)
• 2-hour notice given for cross campus float assignments
• Patient ratio: Days 1:5-6 patients
• Care for post-surgical patients including whipples, vascular, pre/post heart caths, bariatric, ENT, podiatry procedures
• Manage patients with dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, fall risks, thyroid surgeries
• Required skills: PIV insertion, chest tube/drain management, CBI, stable drips, epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration
• Provide tele interpretation, wound care including packing and wound vacs, pre/post heart cath care
• Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Required certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years strong Med/Surg experience, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health system logos
• May require precepting of students and new hires in teaching hospital environment

The facility provides comprehensive surgical services including complex procedures and specializes in trauma level II care. The unit maintains experienced staff with helpful charge nurses and PCT support, creating a positive work environment that celebrates team achievements and maintains high standards of patient care.
