Opportunity:
Surgical Assistant – Surgical Assistant
Job Details:
• Work as a Surgical Assistant in CVOR (not surgical tech)
• Start times between 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM
• Handle approximately 10 cases per day
• Work 1:1 patient ratio
• Perform cardio and thoracic surgeries including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, thoracic robotic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass
• Must have strong CVOR background across all specialties with ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Experience in fast-paced environment required
• Two weeks of orientation provided
• On-call requirements: once per month weekend 24-hour call Saturday/Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM
• End of shift call up to once per week with 30-minute response time
• Holiday expectations are on-call only as needed
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Required certifications: BLS, graduation from accredited school (required), CSFA (preferred)
• 2 years surgical assist experience required
• Not recommended for first-time travelers
• Must be proficient with EPIC charting system, Alaris, Pyxis, and DaVinci XI equipment
• Scrubs provided
• Free parking available
• No floating required

This healthcare facility is a Level III Trauma Center with Magnet designation and serves as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility operates 938 beds with 8 dedicated CVOR beds and maintains high standards for cardiac and thoracic surgical services. The surgical department features advanced technology including robotic surgical capabilities and provides comprehensive support with department supervisors, managers, team leads, and 24/7 anesthesia availability.
