Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg
Job Details:
• Work on a 32-bed medical surgical unit specializing in surgical patients
• Care for bariatric, bladder, and orthopedic patients (total knees, hips), as well as all surgical types
• Treat patients with diabetes, kidney and liver failure, cardiac conditions, stroke, and respiratory issues
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 during days, 1:5-7 during nights
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Must have medical surgical skillsets, cardiac rhythm interpretation experience, and post-operative patient care experience
• Skills required include wound care, chest tube management, and administration of cardiac drips, heparin, and insulin
• 1 year of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers welcome
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Holiday expectations: work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• No on-call requirements
• Up to 2 weeks time off may be approved
• May float to other medical surgical units (travelers float first)
• One day orientation on the unit
• Professional scrubs required in any color except denim or camouflage
• Free parking available in designated employee areas
Facility:
This 228-bed teaching hospital serves as a Level IV Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center designation. The facility provides comprehensive medical services with 24/7 support including hospitalists, respiratory therapy, and various support staff. The hospital utilizes modern technology including EPIC charting system, Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and centralized telemetry monitoring to ensure quality patient care.
