Opportunity:
RN – ER
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with variable start times of 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, or 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday requirement of at least 2-3 shifts for winter needs, otherwise every other holiday during the contract
• Volunteer to go home without pay in lieu of call or standby requirements
• Floating to inpatient unit for helping hands may be required
• Dress code: Any solid color scrubs, clean and professional appearance required
• 2 years of emergency department experience required
• Must have Michigan nursing license in hand prior to assignment
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
• Trauma Level IV facility treating 40-60 patients per day on average
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 during the day, higher ratios at night after 11:00 PM
• Work in a 14-bed emergency department with 2 trauma bays and a Fast Track area with 3 designated rooms
• 2 triage rooms available; travelers may triage after review of facility policies and procedures
• Common patient diagnoses include traumas, STEMIs, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and farm-related injuries
• ED physician available 24/7 in-house along with mid-level providers
• Charge nurse takes an assignment during the day
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 in-house for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
• 24/7 phlebotomy services available for lab draws
• X-ray and CT imaging accessible directly from the emergency department
• No monitor technician; RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips at the central monitoring station
• Computer-based training and 2 days of floor orientation provided, including one day of department-specific policy review
• Charting completed using a computerized system
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a fully staffed emergency department with 24/7 physician coverage and comprehensive ancillary support services. The department features dedicated triage and fast track areas, trauma bays, and access to on-site imaging and respiratory therapy. The facility serves a diverse patient population and maintains a collaborative care environment with support from CNAs, medics, LPNs, and respiratory therapists to assist nursing staff.
