Opportunity:
RN – Labor and Delivery
Job Details:
• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Use evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skilled communication to create the safest patient environment
• Care for high-risk mothers and newborns; Level III Perinatal Care experience required (no exceptions)
• Patient types include high-risk mothers and newborns with knowledge in placenta accreta, tubal ligation, cerclage, hysterectomies, massive transfusions, and pre-eclampsia
• Serve as secondary nurse for C-section deliveries; no circulation for C-sections as primary nurse
• Circulate in vaginal deliveries, surgical recovery, and provide care for newborns
• Patient ratios: 1:1-2 Active Labor, 1:3 Antepartum; follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
• No set schedules; must be available to work 7 days a week and will be plugged into the schedule where needed
• Every other weekend required; block scheduling and patterned scheduling not guaranteed
• Every other holiday required based on start date
• May float to Postpartum, Women's Care Center, and inpatient women's units; travelers will float first
• Charting systems and equipment include EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, Fetal Monitoring, and Epidural Pumps
• Required skills: Fetal monitoring, maternal assessments and interventions, high-risk newborn and mother care post-delivery, cervical exams for labor progression, OB triage, assisting with circulating C-sections, primary nurse for vaginal deliveries, post-partum, and L&D recoveries
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, FHMOB
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Scrubs provided; free designated parking available
Facility:
This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 228 beds, offering a wide range of specialized services. It holds designations as a Level III NICU, Level III Perinatal Center, Accreta Center of Excellence, and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility operates with robust 24/7 on-site support including charge nurses, clinical resource nurses, certified nurse midwives, OBGYN providers, and OB anesthesia, ensuring comprehensive care across all units.
