Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Observation
Job Details:
• 13-week assignment with an ASAP start date
• 12-hour variable shifts, days and nights, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Guaranteed 48 hours per week
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, including IMC and CTU units
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Contract eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, taken in hour increments as needed
• 8-bed observation unit with a patient ratio of 1:4
• Treats patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre and post-op urology and GI cases, with average patient stay up to 48 hours
• Manage drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
• High volume of admissions and discharges
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips required; EKG exam required during compliance
• EPIC charting experience required
• Minimum 3 years of experience required
• 1 prior travel assignment required
• Background in observation, med/surg, or telemetry units preferred
• Required certifications: WI RN License, BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC); NIHSS highly preferred
• Associate Degree or Certificate required
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Must be able to work independently, manage tasks efficiently, collaborate with team and ancillary staff, and maintain a positive attitude with flexibility throughout shifts

This healthcare facility operates a Short Stay Observation Unit providing specialized care for patients requiring short-term monitoring and treatment. The unit supports a wide range of medical conditions and procedures, offering a dynamic environment with high patient turnover and comprehensive inpatient services. The facility maintains a collaborative care model with float capabilities across multiple inpatient units to ensure optimal patient care throughout the organization.
