Opportunity:
RN – Admissions/Transfers
Job Details:
• 13-week contract with 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 12-hour shifts with variable days or nights available; start times at 7:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• No float assignment
• Can be placed on low census/on-call; call back minimum is 2 hours
• Facilitate consults and transfers for patient placement across 16 hospital locations
• Coordinate patient admissions from other healthcare facilities, physician offices, and clinics
• Follow protocols, policies, and algorithms including EMTALA regulatory requirements
• Anticipate admission needs and collaborate with transferring departments to optimize patient flow
• Coordinate patient transfers across all disciplines including disposition, ambulance transportation, and specialist referrals
• Provide estimated time of arrival to both referring and accepting sites for timely handoffs
• Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of all patient transfers into and out of the system
• Collaborate closely with bed planning teams to efficiently accept critically ill patients
• Remotely triage using critical care or emergency department experience to identify patient care needs
• Utilize critical thinking skills to ensure correct patient placement based on acuity, service required, and facility capacity
• Use chain of command to advocate for priority admissions or transfers to higher level of care
• Night shift staffed with 2 RNs; day shift staffed with 2-4 RNs
• Minimum 3-5 years of ICU or ER experience required (5 years preferred)
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Transfer call center experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: Wisconsin RN License, AHA or ARC BLS
• Associate Degree or Certificate required
• Scrub colors: any color or business casual
