Opportunity:

RN – Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Shift variations available: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Every other holiday required
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling accommodated when possible but not guaranteed
• No on-call requirements for agency staff; staff may be low-census or reallocated based on staffing needs scheduled in 4-hour blocks
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 days/evenings, 1:5–7 nights (average 6, must be comfortable with 7 patients)
• Nurse aide support available: 1:9 days/evenings, 1:14 nights
• 28-bed Intermediate Care (IMC) unit with up to 75% cardiac patient population
• Common diagnoses include pre/post caths, pre-CABG, chest pain, NSTEMIs, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, dialysis, altered mental status, nephrology, hematology, wounds, and overflow strokes
• Must titrate drips including insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, and Lasix
• Telemetry techs provide 24/7 monitoring; unit monitor available for nurses to verify rhythm capture
• Charge RN carries a reduced patient assignment and serves as a resource for staff
• Equipment includes continuous CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, Vapotherm, nebulizers, and chest PT; no ventilators
• Floating may be required to other Med/Surg floors or outside the Med/Surg cluster for 1:1 patient observer needs
• Scrubs: any color, clean and professional
• Orientation: one 12-hour off-unit day and one 12-hour on-unit shift
• Charting system: Cerner
• Minimum 1 year of Telemetry, IMC, or Step-Down RN experience required
• Must have significant cardiac nursing experience; drip experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Cancellation policy: client may cancel up to 12 hours every 13 weeks

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive inpatient medical services across multiple specialty areas. The Intermediate Care unit is a 28-bed cardiac-focused unit providing advanced monitoring and care for a diverse patient population. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system and maintains robust staffing support structures including telemetry technicians, charge nurses, and nurse aides to ensure high-quality patient care.
