Opportunity:

RN – PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend requirement every 3rd weekend: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement: 2 out of 3 holidays
• On-call/standby requirement with 45-minute response time on a rotating basis
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: ICU 1:3, IMC/PCU 1:3-4, Med Surg 1:5; 2 RNs in department at all times
• Team nursing with RN and LPN covering a total of 7 patients
• Must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Heparin, Levo, Cardizem, Dobutamine, and pressors
• Responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips independently
• May be asked to step into a charge nurse role
• Floating may be required; options include floating to the ED for tasking or holding patients
• 1 year of PCU experience required (Med-Surg Tele experience alone is not appropriate); prior ICU experience also accepted
• Must have Cerner charting experience
• Scrub color: Any solid color
• Unit orientation includes 4 hours of CBT and 8 hours of floor training
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a PCU/IMC/Med Surg unit with 12 beds plus 4 additional ICU rooms, maintaining an average census of 8 patients. The unit commonly treats patients with pneumonia, post-operative knee and hip procedures, and fall-related injuries. The facility utilizes Cerner as its charting system and provides remote telemetry monitoring support, creating a collaborative and well-resourced environment for nursing staff. The unit is led by a manager who is a former traveler, fostering an understanding and supportive atmosphere for travel nurses.
