Opportunity:
RN – CVICU
Job Details:
• Day shifts run 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and night shifts run 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• 1 to 2 holidays expected per contract
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if minimum experience requirements are met
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring including Swan Ganz and A-lines, pacemakers (epicardial and transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications including inotropes, vasopressors, sedation and paralytics, ventilator and trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Travelers with specific cardiovascular surgical experience preferred including ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD
• Common patient types include post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs and replacements, heart transplants, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy, AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• May float to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU, Sitter, or PACU Surge
• Scrub color must be any solid color, professional; no graphics, logos, or designs permitted
• Free parking available with shuttle service for day shifts and attached parking structure for night shifts
Facility:
This facility is a 933-bed Level II Trauma Center and Magnet designated hospital located in Milwaukee, WI. The facility includes a Level III NICU and serves as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The CVICU unit consists of 30 beds and is supported around the clock by a dedicated CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, Hospitalist, General Intensivist, ICU designated Respiratory Therapist, charge nurses, and HUC staff. Phlebotomy services are available to assist with peripheral blood draws, and bedside and nurses station telemetry monitoring is provided.
