Opportunity:
RN – Labor and Delivery
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts, primarily days with some night shifts available
• Self-scheduling with rotating weekends (every third) and holidays (every other)
• Mandated shifts when needs arise
• No on-call responsibilities, though call shift requirements may apply
• Unit covers Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother/Baby with 11 total beds
• Care for vaginal births, C-sections, inductions, special care nursery patients, and hysterectomy patients
• Recover C-section patients unless under general anesthesia
• Titrate epidurals and administer IV medications to induce labor
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios
• OB physician in house 24/7 with anesthesia available in house 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available in house to assist with special care nursery patients
• Use EFM systems including Novii and GE
• Chart using Cerner electronic health records system
• Hospital-supplied scrubs provided as dress code
• 2-shift unit-specific orientation required
• Agency nurses will not serve in charge nurse capacity
• Float to other units as staffing allows, but not as primary nurse
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Must have LDRP experience including C-section recovery
Facility:
This acute care medical center is a full-service hospital offering comprehensive healthcare services to the surrounding community. The Labor and Delivery unit operates with 11 beds, one OR suite for C-sections, and one triage bed, supporting approximately 320 births per year. The facility maintains 24/7 OB and anesthesia coverage and is equipped with modern fetal monitoring technology to support a high standard of maternal and newborn care.
