Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts available, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks
• Weekend rotation required: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratios: RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, CNA 2-3 per shift
• Care for orthopedic and trauma patients, post-op surgeries, and patients with acute or chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
• Required certifications: BLS; Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency exam required as part of compliance
• ACLS preferred; Medical-surgical or Nephrology nursing national certification preferred
• Skills required include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
• Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills required for Level 1 Trauma setting
• Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education required
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Monitors: Phillips
• Unit equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamap), bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines
• May float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units within the facility
• Scrub color: Navy for RN, Ceil Blue for LPN

This large healthcare facility operates 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation, making it one of the region's most comprehensive medical centers. As a teaching hospital, it provides advanced specialty services including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit maintains robust support staff including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team floats, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists all available 24/7, fostering a collaborative team-oriented culture.
