Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6 for RN and LPN, with 2-3 CNAs per shift
• Care for patients with acute or chronic disease, post-op surgeries, and co-morbidities common to med-surg population including diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
• Required certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) – travelers will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance
• ACLS preferred but not required
• Medical-Surgical national certification preferred
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips to titrate heart rate
• Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills required for Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• Proficiency in IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation required
• Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams and discharge planning responsibilities
• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med Dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Phillips
• Additional equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamap), bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines
• Floating to all adult med-surg/telemetry units within the facility may be required
• Scrub color: Navy for RN
Facility:
This facility is a 637-licensed-bed teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma Designation, housing a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit consists of 35 beds and operates as a busy but team-oriented environment. Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and a Central Telemetry Unit, all available around the clock to support patient care.
