Opportunity:
RN – CVICU
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts available, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Manager is open to 36 or 48-hour contracts
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 1 to 2 holidays expected per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• 6-week scheduling cycle with schedule provided 1 to 2 weeks prior to start
• Fatigue policy in place – cannot exceed 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• RTO approval of up to 7 days allowed
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required with at least 1 year of CVICU experience
• First-time travelers accepted if minimum experience requirements are met
• Patient types include cardiac post-op (CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants, pacemakers), thoracic surgeries (esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, lobectomy), and vascular surgeries (AAA, TVAR, carotid endarterectomy)
• Patient ratios: RN 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status; Tech 1:8-10
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, A-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Preferred experience with CV surgical equipment including ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD
• Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• May float to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU (1:3 ratio), Sitter, or PACU Surge
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional – no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available with shuttle service for day shifts and attached parking structure for night shifts
Facility:
This facility is a large 933-bed hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center and a Magnet Designated institution, reflecting its commitment to excellence in nursing and patient care. The facility also holds designations as a Level III NICU and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The CVICU unit consists of 30 beds and is supported around the clock by a dedicated CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, Hospitalist, General Intensivist, and ICU-designated Respiratory Therapist, along with charge nurses, HUC staff, and phlebotomy services.
