Opportunity:
RN – Tele
Job Details:
• Work on a 44-bed Telemetry unit (4 North/South) caring for Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Observation, Post cardiac cath (radial and femoral), and other patient types including CHF, PNA, Sepsis, and Abdominal pain
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 for RNs on both days and nights, acuity-based adjustments may apply
• CNA ratio of 1:10-12 on days and nights
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Time off requests accepted up to one week
• Holiday expectations: Summer – 2 of 3 holidays (Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th); Winter – 1 from each group: Thanksgiving Day or day after, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day
• Block scheduling will not be accommodated
• Required skills include reading/interpreting strips, cardiac drips (non-titrating), MSU skillset, wound care, and IV starts
• Charting system: EPIC; Equipment: Pyxis and Alaris
• May be required to float to other MSU/Tele floors, travelers float first
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Scrub color: Navy
• No artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient care; natural nail tips must be kept less than ¼ inch long

Facility:
This 231-bed teaching hospital is located approximately 30 minutes from Chicago and holds no trauma designation. The telemetry unit is supported by a centralized telemetry monitor with a telemetry technician, an IV/VAT team for difficult sticks, PICC lines, and midlines, a resource nurse available at night who floats between units, a hospitalist in house, respiratory therapy in house, and OT, PT, and ST services available during the week. Phlebotomy services are also available on the unit.
