Opportunity:
Lab Specialist – Laboratory
Job Details:
• 2nd shift position working 10-hour shifts from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a paid lunch break
• Schedule consists of 7 shifts per 2-week period (7/70 schedule)
• Every third weekend required with no set rotation
• Perform laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols requiring independent judgment with minimal technical supervision
• Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen procurement and processing
• Perform blood collection duties in a timely manner to ensure availability of test results as needed
• Interpret and verify test results consistently following established protocols
• Recognize abnormal or inconsistent results and investigate appropriately and in a timely manner
• Operate laboratory instrumentation following specific procedures and perform required instrument maintenance
• Utilize Laboratory Information System (LIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other tools and resources as appropriate
• Actively participate in student and new employee training, including developing training curriculum
• Complete all required competency assessments successfully
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with leadership, peers, and customers
• Assist in error detection, investigation, documentation, and process improvement opportunities
• Provide evidence of participation in continuing education annually
• Adjust to fluctuating workloads and prioritize and multitask as appropriate
• Maintain workstations in a clean and organized manner
