Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (days) and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (nights)
• Primary shift will be days with some nights based on operational needs
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless requested by the employee
• Minimum 36 hours off required between the end of a night shift and the beginning of a day shift for patient care
• Every other weekend rotation with holidays as needed
• Self-scheduling unit
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• 2 years of acute care experience in Med Surg/Tele required within the last 3 years
• Experience starting IVs required
• Active RN license required
• BLS certification required – AHA only
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Telemetry exam must be passed prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; traveler has two attempts to pass
• Work on a 28-bed family practice and forensics unit with 18 general care beds and up to 10 correctional beds
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients; staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer when assisting these patients
• Daily census of 20 patients across 25 rooms
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Required skills include telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, central line blood draws, PICC line management, wound care, heparin and insulin administration, and PCA management
