Opportunity:
RN – ICU
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts with options for day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) or night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 1 holiday shift required per contract
• Schedule made in 4-week increments with RTO approval going through management
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity
• Care for patients with diagnoses including sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, overdose, suicidal ideation, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, acute renal failure, DKA, and post-surgical recovery
• Surgical patient types include general, open abdominal, orthopedic (total joints), ENT, and OBGYN
• Cardiac and vascular patient types include fempops, CABG, EVAR, valve procedures, post-cath (radial and femoral approach), AAA, and amputations
• Required skills include vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), drain and chest tube management, foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath experience, CVVH, and CRRT
• Preferred skills include cardiovascular and CV surgery experience, IABPs, and Impellas
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; NIHSS preferred
• EMR system: EPIC (preferred)
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; unit-specific equipment: NxStage CRRT
• May float within scope of practice to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), or Observation units (1:4); travelers are first to float
• Scrub color: Any color; no camouflage, graphics, logos, or designs
• Parking is free
• More than 2 sick calls will prompt a discussion and evaluation of the contract, which may result in contract termination
Facility:
This facility is a 136-bed Level III Trauma Center and Level II NICU, as well as a designated Primary Stroke Center. The ICU unit consists of 17 beds and is supported by a robust team including CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse, a PM ICU supervisor, phlebotomy services, an educator, respiratory therapy available 24/7, a hospitalist available 24/7, an intensivist available 24/7, and an ICU-specific pharmacist during day shifts.
