Opportunity:
RN – Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Unit contains 29 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Common patient diagnoses include ortho trauma (fractures, joint replacements), vascular conditions (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy, heparin drips), urology (TURP, TURBT, continuous bladder irrigation), neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain), OBGYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• RNs required to titrate drips following a prescribed nomogram; common drips include Heparin, Nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and Insulin
• Telemetry techs monitor patients 24/7; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse takes an assignment on all shifts; house supervisor present on all shifts
• Nursing assistants on unit with varying ratios by shift; RNs carry additional responsibilities for vital signs and ADLs during evening and overnight hours
• Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy; no ventilators; respiratory therapy support is present
• Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• Charting system: Cerner
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Dress code: Any color scrubs, clean and professional
• Orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Block scheduling provided to the best of the facility's ability dependent on staffing; no self-scheduling
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
