Job Details:
• Work in a 3-room Urology Center performing procedures including TURP, TURBT, Cystoscopy, Ureteroscopy, and Prostate Biopsies
• Rooms can be flexed up to 4 as needed
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Patient population consists of adults only, primarily outpatient (approximately 90%) with approximately 10% inpatient
• Patient types include vasectomies, catheter changes, cystos, ureteroscopy, TURP, prostate biopsies, clot evacuations, and stent placements/removals
• Patient ratio is 1:1
• Required certification: BLS
• Skills required include patient consents, positioning, prep, documentation, check-ins, patient transport to and from procedural rooms, catheter changes with local sedation, and specimen transport
• Charting system: EPIC preferred; equipment includes Alaris and Pyxis
• May float to main OR during downtime after crosstraining
• On-call rotation with core staff – every 5th weekend, Saturday and Sunday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM; no weekday or overnight on-call
• Holiday expectations include 1 summer and 1 winter holiday, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Procedural scrubs are provided
• Must document pain levels before and after administering pain medications
• Orientation is 1 to 3 days based on comfort level
• All time-off requests require manager approval
Facility:
This facility is a large 933-bed hospital holding Magnet Designation and recognized as a Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility also features a Level III NICU and provides a well-supported work environment including a charge nurse, unit secretary available during day shift, on-call physician coverage 24/7, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy support for peripheral blood draws.
