Opportunity:
Lab Specialist – Laboratory
Job Details:
• Work 10-hour night shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule consists of 8 consecutive days on followed by 6 days off, starting Monday night through the following Monday into Tuesday morning
• Perform laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols with minimal technical supervision
• Instrumentation experience preferred with the following equipment: Roche 6000, Sysmex XN with Cellavision, Gram Stain, Cepheid, and ACL Top
• Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen procurement and processing
• Perform blood collection duties in a timely manner to ensure availability of test results as needed
• Interpret and verify test results consistently following established protocols
• Recognize abnormal or inconsistent results and investigate appropriately and in a timely manner
• Adjust to fluctuating workloads and prioritize and multitask as appropriate
• Maintain workstations in a clean and organized manner
• Utilize LIS, EMR, and other tools and resources to complete special projects as assigned
• Accurately perform and document required quality control procedures and corrective actions
• Operate instrumentation following specific procedures and perform required instrument maintenance
• Contact technical support and communicate with peers regarding instrument and equipment problems when appropriate
• Actively participate in student and new employee training, including developing training curriculum
• Successfully complete all required competency assessments
• Must have strong and clear communication skills as this role requires phone communication and direct interaction with people
• Must be able to hit the ground running
• Annually provide evidence of participation in continuing education
